What is Eco-Fabric ?
Eco-fabric is an advanced material made from activated bamboo charcoal.
It is anti-bacterial, antifungal, deodorizing, absorbs and emits far infrared radiation, thermal regulates, and prevents static build up. Eco-fabric is material embedded with nano-particles of activated bamboo charcoal. |

Eco-fabric’s bamboo charcoal nano-particles comes from Taiwanese Moso Bamboo (Phyllostachys heterocycla pubescens), grown naturally in the Jhushan “Bamboo Mountain” region of Taiwan. A renewable resource, a bamboo forest regrows in 4–5 years, while a tree forest takes 60 years.
Eco-fabric, Greenyarn's trademark yarn and fiber is used in many Greenyarn products, and the benefits such as antibacterial, deodorizing and wicking, comes from the way this sustainable fiber is processed. No dyes or bleaches are used during manufacturing. |
How is Eco-fabric made ?
- Select, 4 – 5 year old bamboo is grown naturally in Jhushan (Taiwan).
The bamboo is dried and heated at 800∘C until it becomes bamboo charcoal.
The bamboo charcoal is sent for further processing to be turned into nano-particles.
Ultra-fine bamboo charcoal nano particles are embedded into cotton, polyester or nylon fiber.
The fiber is then drawn into yarn, and processed into Eco-fabric.

Tyrrano Hiking Socks

Tyrrano are knitted with our 200-needle count densely knit 3-D technology. The dense construction, Y-heel seam, and an arch-band ensures better fitting and greater comfort. Tyrrano was designed and tested with the help of by mountaineers and bore up well in rugged terrain. Tyrrano is most suitable for temperatures around -10°C to 20°C. Containing the finest acrylic yarns at the heel and toe, they are abrasion resistant and quick dry, making these socks durable yet comfortable. Leveraging on nanotechnology,Tyrrano are made with Bioweave and Eco-fabric and these new materials help the wearer by:

Mayheim Half Cut Socks

Mayheim contains Coolmax, which is one of the best materials for wicking moisture. Feedback from staff at jobs that required a lot of standing lead to a crew length sock, tapered to fit the calves better. It is now the preferred sock of many Boston police officers, who say that with Mayheim they do not get tired feet even after a double shift. Mayheim also reduces odor in airtight boots.

Properties of Eco-fabric and explanation.
Q: What benefits does Eco-fabric have?
A: Eco-fabric is antibacterial, antifungal, breathable, cool, thermal regulating, reduces static electricity, absorbs and emits far infrared radiation, de-odorizes, green and washable.
Q: How does Eco-fabric get its antibacterial and antifungal property?
A: Bamboo thrives naturally without using any pesticide and bamboo-carbon nano particles still retains its natural antibacterial, antifungal, bacteriostasis and deodorization properties. Eco-fabric contains bamboo-carbon nano particles hence also has those properties.
Q: Does Eco-fabric contain antimicrobial agent to be anti-bacterial?
A: As Eco-fabric has natural antibiosis function, it does not need antimicrobial agent to be antibacterial. It also should not cause any allergic reaction to the skin, unlike other fibers sterilized with antimicrobial agent.
